Task-Colors: Where should these appear? I just find them in the kanban view #1841

When I assign a color to a task it is just visible in the kanban view.

I expected to see them everywhere like "upcoming", and task lists...

If this is not to be expected just close this issue ;)

How do you think that should look like? The issue with this is we're already showing the list color in these places, if set:

If we'd also surface the task color in the same place, I think that might get confusing.

When you are in the overview of the list itself the font or the background of the font could be the chosen color.

Under upcoming the colored list could be a problem. Probably instead of the red dot in your picture we could use the symbol "layer-group" and color this for the list color and change the font color like in the overview of the list?

I think that's maybe a bit too much? Depends on the task color - might be fine for light colors but I feel like that could get annoying very quickly for bright ones.

Maybe we could adopt the color bubble from the overview though?

I think that could work. Where would you place it? Before or after the list name?

What do you think about the following order

<symbol "layer-group" colored with LIST COLOR> <list-name> <task-title> <symbol DOT colored withTASK COLOR> <due date> <additional symbols like comments>

I don't know anything about Vue, so this could last a little bit longer. Probably another (more skilled) one can create the PR.

I can look into it but don't expect any wonders regarding quality from my side ;)

Also, when assigning a task color, and re-editing the task, the task color is visible nowhere, both on stable and on try, which confused me.
I was looking at the list and the task and thought the feature was not working at all until I stumbled upon this and looked in the kanban view.

Maybe the "Set Color"-Button could be colored when a color was set?

I like that idea.

Honestly, I'd prefer coloring tasks by the first label assigned to them, or by person, that way there is a taxonomy.
Actually there could be different colors for different views (e.g. by urgency or a custom property (importance -> Eisenhower Matrix), by user, by label), like configuring filters/sorts in Notion.
Either way, I don't see the point of coloring individual tasks.
